Middle School Campaign

Middle School Campaign Guide

This campaign asks everyone to "Don’t Drink and Drive." The poster was created by the FLORIDA SADD Middle School Poster Contest winner Amber Vreeland from Lake Weir Middle School. The goal of this program is to encourage your friends & peers to make good choices when it comes to the "No-Use" message regarding alcohol and not riding with someone who has been drinking and driving./p>

Included in this campaign kit are:

  • 10 "Beer and Keys Don't Mix! So Don't Drink!" Posters

Your SADD chapter could sponsor an essay contest that asks students to write about why they have decided to stay alcohol free and get the local newspaper to serve as judges & publish the best essay. You could get prizes donated from local business or fundraise to purchase prizes.

Your SADD Chapter could sponsor a "caught you doing something good" campaign where students hand out pencils or key chains to students who are seen making a good choice or being helpful to their fellow students and teachers. And to further give them encouragement, at the end of the day, make an announcement over the loudspeaker mentioning that the following students were caught being good students.

If your Middle School has a morning news program, you could act out a skit showing why anyone shouldn’t drink and drive. Your skit can incorporate a student buckling up, never using alcohol & drugs, and never riding with an impaired driver.

Make a video of students practicing refusal skills when faced with difficult situations. Use as a teaching tool or to supplement an awareness program.

Invite your fellow SADD chapter members to meet with the younger grades to discuss middle school life. Make sure to use students who are good role models and that will present good no-use messages and can give information about student responsibilities.

There are many different ways to incorporate this campaign into various activities. Ask your fellow SADD chapter members too. They may have a lot of great ideas.

The enclosed materials are made possible through a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation.

Although we do not service elementary school SADD chapters, we will send out supplies if we have them available. Elementary school SADD chapters will not receive all the materials due to age appropriateness.
