Welcome to the Real World!
Spring Campaign Guide
SADD chapters are based on the idea of peer-to-peer education because we believe that students working together toward a common goal can have a positive influence on each other and others in their communities. This campaign illustrates that the “real world” offers many challenges for young people. Life isn’t always fair and making positive choices can be tough. Young people often believe they are invulnerable and that nothing bad will ever happen to them.
Statistics show more teens are injured or killed during the months of March, April, and May than any other time of the year. FLORIDA SADD hopes you will use this campaign to encourage students to make positive, healthy choices while educating them about how choices can impact their future.
Included in this campaign kit are:
- 1 2010 Spring/Summer Activity Guide*
- 1 Welcome to the Real World Banner
- 1 Spring Newsletter
- 10 Welcome to the Real World Spring Campaign posters
- 25 FLORIDA SADD Lanyards
- 50 Welcome to the Real World Stickers

*The Spring/Summer Activity Guide includes specific dates and activities for each month (January-July). It includes a month-at-a-glance page as well as a detailed list of ideas for chapter activities.
Promote safe driving and encourage students not to drink by putting together several educational programs and events such as a Ghost Out activity, Mock DUI Crash presentation, and other events aimed at helping to save students’ lives.
Before Spring Break, make sure you sponsor at least one event, like a Beach Party, to encourage students to have a safe Spring Break. Have your SADD chapter participate in school activities such as Project Graduation and After Prom events to focus on being safe and helping to save lives.
Encourage ALL students to sign the pledge banner to stay away from alcohol and other drugs, to always buckle up, and never ride with an impaired driver this spring. Reward those students who sign the banner with the materials FLORIDA SADD provides.
Make SADD FUN! Think about some activity or event that you can host to show how you can have a good time without the use of drugs or alcohol.
This campaign was created by the FLORIDA SADD Student Advisory Board. The enclosed materials are made possible through a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation.
